ASUS Announces WiFi 8 Router Availability in Canada Ahead of Worldwide October Release

MANILA, Philippines, September 29, 2026 — ASUS has announced the Canadian retail availability of its ROG Rapture GT-BN98 series, ahead of a wider WiFi 8 rollout scheduled to begin in October. The company is also preparing to launch the ASUS ZenWiFi BN12, a WiFi 8 mesh system, during the same month.

ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Series Supports Quad-Band WiFi 8

The ROG Rapture GT-BN98 series consists of two models: the GT-BN98 Pro (BN30000) and GT-BN98 (BN25000).
Both use a quad-band WiFi 8 design. ASUS lists total wireless throughput of up to 30,000 Mbps for the series, although the company’s footnote specifies that the maximum data rate applies to the GT-BN98 Pro model.
The routers use a 2.6GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. Wired connectivity includes two 10Gbps ports and four 2.5Gbps LAN ports.
The GT-BN98 series also uses a 16-antenna architecture arranged into eight external antennas through a 3D structural design. ASUS says its thermal design is intended to support sustained network operation.
WiFi 8 Features and WiFi 7 Compatibility
ASUS says its ROG engineering tests indicate that the GT-BN98 series can provide measurable performance gains when paired with existing WiFi 7 client devices.
The company also cites WiFi 8 technologies including UEQM (Unequal Modulation) and NPCA (Non-Primary Channel Access). According to ASUS, these technologies are intended to improve connection stability and reduce the effects of interference as compatible client devices become available.
These performance statements are based on ASUS testing and simulations rather than independent testing.
ASUS ZenWiFi BN12 WiFi 8 Mesh System
The ASUS ZenWiFi BN12 is scheduled to launch in October as a 12-stream tri-band WiFi 8 mesh system.
ASUS lists coverage of up to 7,000 square feet using its 2x LDPC wall-penetration technology. The system also has two 10Gbps ports for wired backhaul between mesh nodes.
The BN12 also includes ASUS AiProtection Pro, customizable Parental Controls, and compatibility with ASUS AiMesh systems. ASUS says these security and parental-control features do not require a subscription.
Global WiFi 8 Rollout
ASUS says its WiFi 8 routers and mesh systems are being prepared for worldwide operation, with regional regulatory requirements and frequency configurations taken into account.
Global distribution for the WiFi 8 lineup is scheduled to begin in October 2026.
Philippines Availability
The ASUS ROG Rapture GT-BN98 (BN25000) is scheduled to become available in the Philippines from mid to late November 2026.
