Globe, NPC renew alliance to help Filipinos stay safe and responsible online

Globe and the National Privacy Commission (NPC) have renewed their partnership to promote privacy awareness, digital citizenship, and safer online behavior among Filipinos, with a particular focus on young people.
The organizations renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on October 19, continuing their work under Kabataang Digital, the NPC’s youth-focused advocacy program. The partnership also includes support for Safe Space 2.0, which will address artificial intelligence (AI) and digital wellness.

Partnership continues through Kabataang Digital

The renewed agreement continues collaboration between Globe and the NPC on Kabataang Digital, which provides young Filipinos with practical information on data privacy, digital citizenship, and responsible online behavior.
The partnership comes as emerging technologies such as AI become increasingly part of how people learn, communicate, and interact.
Globe Chief Privacy Officer and Head of the Digital Policy and Governance Group Atty. Irish Salandanan-Almeida said privacy protection also requires people to understand their rights, recognize online risks, and make informed decisions when using digital services.
Under the collaboration, Globe will participate in selected activities under the NPC’s Kabataang Digital Program, along with other awareness, educational, and capacity-building initiatives.
Safe Space 2.0 to cover AI and digital wellness
The partnership will also support Safe Space 2.0, a follow-up to Globe’s Safe Space children’s book.
According to the announcement, the second edition will tackle AI and digital wellness, reflecting the need to help young people use emerging technologies responsibly.
Globe will support the initiative through its Safe Space books and related learning materials. The company will also donate copies of the second edition to the NPC after publication.
Globe continues online safety initiatives
The renewed partnership is part of Globe’s broader online safety efforts, including its Go Safe with Globe advocacy.
Globe also runs the Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), which provides workshops and learning modules covering digital citizenship, privacy, cybersecurity, and responsible technology use.
According to Globe, DTP has reached more than 2 million students and educators nationwide since its launch in 2016, extending digital citizenship and online safety education to schools and communities.
More recently, Globe partnered with GMA Network on GoSafe sa Cyberspace, an initiative that brings online safety lessons to students and helps young people recognize and respond to digital risks.
Focus on privacy and responsible digital citizenship
NPC Privacy Commissioner Jan Barcena said the partnership aims to bring privacy education closer to Filipinos, particularly young people growing up in an increasingly digital environment.
The collaboration brings together government and private-sector efforts to promote awareness of privacy rights, personal information protection, and responsible digital behavior.
Globe said its continuing work with government, schools, media, and other partners is intended to contribute to a safer digital environment by extending practical online safety education to more communities.
