TeamViewer Expands Tia AI Agent to Perform IT Troubleshooting With Human Approval

September 9, 2026 — TeamViewer has expanded the capabilities of its Tia Intelligent Agent with Tia Troubleshooting, allowing the AI system to investigate IT issues, identify potential causes, apply approved fixes, and check whether the problem has been resolved.
The feature is now generally available across TeamViewer’s remote support portfolio, including TeamViewer ONE, Tensor, and SMB licenses.

From IT guidance to automated troubleshooting

Tia can now take a more active role during remote support sessions, moving beyond providing recommendations to carrying out approved troubleshooting actions.
When an IT expert begins a session, Tia analyzes device information and compares the issue against an organization’s library of previous cases and known fixes. It can prioritize previously used solutions or generate diagnostic scripts when an existing solution does not address the problem.
Before applying a fix, Tia requests approval from the IT expert. Once approved, the AI carries out the action and checks whether the issue has been resolved.
The system can be used for issues including application and update errors, file-access problems, and device performance issues, according to TeamViewer.
Human approval remains part of the process
Tia Troubleshooting is designed to keep IT personnel involved in actions that can change a user’s system.
Each action taken by Tia, along with the IT expert’s approval, is recorded. TeamViewer says these records are integrated with Session Insights, allowing administrators to review support activity across sessions handled by human IT staff, Tia, or a combination of both.
Administrators can also determine the level of autonomy available to different teams. Depending on their permissions, some teams can use Tia primarily for recommendations, while others can allow it to implement fixes after approval.
TeamViewer research on AI autonomy
The launch comes alongside TeamViewer’s research into workplace autonomy and the role of human oversight as AI systems take on more responsibilities.
According to the company’s research, 71% of respondents in Singapore prefer AI to take no independent action, which is 10 percentage points higher than the global average.
At the same time, IT leaders in Singapore surveyed by TeamViewer expect 41% of digital workplace services to operate autonomously by 2030. The company says 17% of respondents currently describe their departments as at least partially autonomous.
