vivo X300 FE Photography Tips: Using Pro Mode and Portrait Flash

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Smartphone photography can involve more than simply pointing the camera and pressing the shutter. The vivo X300 FE includes manual camera controls and a multi-focal flash system that give users additional options for shooting in different lighting conditions.
Two features highlighted for the phone are Pro Mode, which provides manual controls for photography, and Portrait Flash, which adjusts flash coverage across different focal lengths.

Using Pro Mode

The X300 FE’s Camera app includes an Auto Mode for everyday photography and a Pro Mode for users who want more control over exposure and other camera settings.
Pro Mode provides adjustments for ISO, shutter speed, white balance, focus, and exposure compensation. Users can access it by opening the Camera app, selecting More, and then choosing Pro.
When shooting in bright conditions, the press release recommends starting with a lower ISO, around 50 to 200, which can help limit noise. In darker conditions, increasing ISO can brighten the image, while a slower shutter speed allows more light to reach the sensor.
A slower shutter speed can also make photos more susceptible to camera shake, so keeping the phone steady is important when using longer exposures.
Users can also adjust white balance and focus depending on the scene. Making one adjustment at a time can make it easier to understand how individual settings affect the resulting image.
Using Portrait Flash
The X300 FE also includes Portrait Flash, a feature designed for portrait photography in low-light or nighttime environments.
According to vivo, the feature works across five portrait focal lengths from 23mm to 100mm and automatically adjusts flash coverage and intensity according to the selected focal length.
A 23mm setting can be used for wider portraits that include more of the surrounding environment, while longer focal lengths can provide tighter framing.
The phone’s current specifications also list a 50MP ZEISS super telephoto camera, 50MP main camera, and 8MP ultra-wide camera, while its flash system supports multiple focal lengths for portrait shooting.
Choosing between the two features
The two features serve different purposes.
Pro Mode is useful when the photographer wants direct control over settings such as ISO, shutter speed, white balance, and focus. It can be useful when the automatic camera settings don’t produce the desired exposure or look.
Portrait Flash, meanwhile, is designed to simplify flash-based portrait photography by adjusting the light according to the selected focal length.
For beginners, starting with Auto Mode and then changing one setting at a time in Pro Mode can be a simpler way to learn how manual camera controls affect an image.
