Globe Platinum marked the arrival of the iPhone 18 with three simultaneous midnight unboxing events in Manila, Cebu, and Davao, giving selected customers an alternative to the traditional crowded retail launch experience.
The events were held on the eve of the nationwide iPhone 18 release and combined device access with dining and community activities. According to Globe, the gatherings were designed around its Platinum customers and the company’s focus on providing a more private and curated launch experience.
Three cities host midnight iPhone 18 events
The Manila, Cebu, and Davao gatherings followed Globe Platinum’s “Platinum for Platinum” concept, which brought customers together with other Platinum members whose businesses and work contributed to the events.
In Manila, the event was held at TAGLISH Seafood Steakhouse in Makati, owned and helmed by Michelin-starred chef and Globe Platinum subscriber Frances Tariga.
Cebu’s gathering took place at The Pig & Palm, the restaurant of Michelin-starred chef and Platinum subscriber Jason Atherton. In Davao, guests were welcomed at Mori & Mill, led by business leader and culinary innovator Anthony Ang, who is also a Platinum subscriber.
iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max featured at the events
Guests took part in dining activities before the midnight countdown and unboxing. Globe said invitees were among the first to experience the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The devices were made available through iPhone Forever, Globe’s year-on-year upgrade program, which allows customers to upgrade to the latest flagship iPhone each year.
Globe focuses on a different launch experience
Mark Pasaylo, Head of Globe Platinum Business, said the company wanted to rethink how early access to a new iPhone could be delivered to Platinum customers.
According to Pasaylo, the approach was intended to provide customers with an experience centered on time, privacy, and seamless service, rather than simply handing over a new device. Globe said the event was also designed to bring Platinum members together with other members of the community.
Chef Frances Tariga also described the event as an opportunity to combine a technology launch with Filipino food, creativity, and hospitality.
Globe's history with the iPhone
The iPhone 18 launch also builds on Globe’s history with Apple in the Philippines. The company said it partnered with Apple in 2008 to help introduce the iPhone 3G to the local market.
For the latest launch, Globe positioned the Platinum events as an extension of its approach to serving customers who want early access to new devices alongside a more curated experience.
