The chasis of the MSI GE75 Raider is made up of aluminum with sturdy plastic base. The minimalist MSI Dragon Spines logo can be seen on the aluminum lid which iluminates white when the laptop is in use. On the side of the logo is red diamond-cut accent which gives bold impression for the GE75 Raider. We also love the solid black black color (with a bit of red accent on some area) which makes it not only a powerful gaming laptop but also a laptop that you can use for work.

On the left side of the GE75, you have the Type-C USB 3.1, RJ45, Audio/Mic jack, Type-A USB 3.1, HDMI and Mini-Display port. On the other side, you have AC, 2 x Type A USB 3.1, and a full SD card slot. LED indicators are located at the front side, while at the other side is the Raider branding of the GE75.

The keyboard of the GE75 is by Steelseries with per key RGB illumination which you can customize via the Steelseries Engine 3 app. We love the AudioVisualizer customization which synchronizes the RGB lighting to background music being played in the laptop (e.g Youtube, Spotify).

There is also a dedicated button below the power button that serves as a shortcut key for the Steelseries RGB per key illumination and fan speed, quite handful for those who are immersed into gaming and doesn’t want to leave the fight just to customize the fan speed.

The MSI GE75 Raider has 17.3-inch display with 144Hz native refresh rate. Its bezels are narrowed down to 5.7mm thin for a wider display area but still able to house an HD webcam that can shoot up to 720p at 30fps. The display is crisp and the viewing angles are also good in the GE75 but we have noticed some backlight bleeding which might be a drawback for some (more noticeable on the edges of the screen when using a dark wallpaper).

Powered by Dynaudio with Giant Speaker, the MSI GE75 delivers rich quality sound through its bottom firing speakers which have up to 5X bigger chambers than traditional speakers, giving it a loud crisp sound for any scenario. Thumbs up to MSI because the GE75 is actually one of the best sounding speakers we’ve ever tried on a laptop. Take our word for it!

Based on performance, the MSI GE75 definitely took the cake when it comes to higher settings but for some reason, the ASUS ROG GL704GW with the RTX 2070 still outperformed the MSI GE75 with 1080p performance.

Directly competing with ASUS ROG GL704 Series, the MSI GE75 Raider is also equipped with the latest Turing architecture Nvidia RTX 2070 GPU and an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H CPU. We played Apex Legends as well as Battlefield V on our test unit and everything runs pretty smooth but as soon as the temperature increases, thermal throttling was being experienced while playing Apex Legends.

To be honest, the topmost part of the keyboard becomes too hot that you wouldn’t want to touch it. Sure this is normal for gaming laptops under prolonged use but the thermal throttling could be a drawback as well for others. We suggest using a cooling pad to aid with the heating or maybe play in an airconditioned room.

In terms of normal usage temperatures though, the GE75 was fairly cool all throughout the benchmark process thanks to its 7 heatpipes, dedicated separately for the CPU and GPU and not shared.

The MSI GE75 is available worldwide at your nearest MSI or local dealer.

Priced at Php 149,995, the MSI GE75 is a decent laptop for gaming or even for everyday work due to its i7-8750H Intel Core Processor and RTX 2070 graphics card. The only take away we had here was the increase in temperature under intense use which could definitely affect performance. Although, this could be easily solved using a cooling pad.
