A few months ago, Realme has launched their latest budget smartphone, the Realme 3. According to the company, the Realme 3 offers extraordinary performance and build but let’s see in this review if the smartphone really packs something for its value.

DISPLAY
The viewing experience on the Realme 3 just feels like other entry level smartphone that we’ve reviewed. For its price, you’ll get an HD+ display from which the viewing angle is okay and images appear to be crisp and colorful. For me this is quite good for its price range. The only problem is the that there’s no available option to hide the dewdrop notch. This could be an issue if you are playing games. We hope Realme will provide an update that allows you to hide the notch or maybe add an option to their future smartphones.
DESIGN
If not because of the gradient finish, the Realme 3 wouldn’t give a premium impression. The polycarbonate-made body really looks inexpensive but better than the dull design of the Huawei Y7 Pro.
On the left side, you’ll have the volume rockers and SIM tray. Flip on the other side and you’ll see the power button. At the bottom, you’ll have the 3.5mm jack, mic, speaker grill and micro-usb port. While the tops side is free from any ports.
PERFORMANCE & BATTERY
We’ve played several games on the Realme 3, like Mobile Legends and Ragnarok and surprisingly, both runs quite okay in medium graphics setting. The battery on the other side feels like it drains a little bit faster than other 4k mAh smartphones that we’ve reviewed. It also drains fast even when we’re not using the phone, maybe a software update can fix it.
CAMERA
The 13MP camera shooter performs great even in low lighting thanks to its Nightscape mode that optimizes the quality. Sure it’s not the best quality output but pretty acceptable for its price range. It also has the Chroma Boost feature, a software enhancement that improves the image’s overall dynamic range. Lastly, the quality of the portrait mode is also exceptional.
VERDICT
Priced starting at Php 6,990 the Realme 3 is good offering from the company. The gaming performance is good as well as the camera, the only downside that we are seeing is the battery performance. As mentioned, we hope it could be improved through a system update. If you want the Realme 3, you choose from different variants as follows;
- Realme 3 (3GB RAM / 32GB ROM) = Php 6,990 (Shopee exclusive)
- Realme 3 (3GB RAM / 64GB ROM) = Php 7,990 (Available in local stores)
- Realme 3 (4GB RAM / 64GB ROM) = Php 9,990 (Available in local stores)
