Huawei has recently announced a new addition to their budget-friendly Y-series smartphones, the Y6 Pro 2019 & the Y7 Pro 2019. Marketed for the youth, both devices offer advanced technologies at a very affordable price. We were lucky to try both devices but in this article, we are going to share our experience with the Huawei Y7 Pro 2019.
|Display||6.26-inch HD+ HUAWEI Dewdrop Display
19:9, 1520 x 720
|Processor||Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450|
|Storage||32GB ROM expandable up to 512GB|
|Camera||13MP + 2MP f/1.8 AI Rear Camera
16MP Front Camera
|Operating System||Android Oreo with EMUI 8.2|
|Size||158.92 x 16.91 x 8.10mm|
The Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 is equipped with 6.26-inch HD+ display in 1520 x 720 resolution. Quite standard across other smartphones in its price range but would be a lot better if its in 1080p. Nevertheless, image quality still looks crisp and accurate in terms of color. It also features the Huawei Dewdrop, a smaller version of a notch which houses only the camera lens. This gives you a wider viewing area when using common apps such as Chrome, Facebook, Instagram. Although when watching videos or playing games in full screen, a black border appears on top of the phone to hide the Dewdrop.
The back panel of the Y7 Pro looks like an acrylic plastic while the frame is a solid plastic coated with a matte finish. It is available in two colors, Aurora Blue which has a gradient tone, while what we have here is the Midnight Black which is a solid color.
At the front side, you can see the slim-bezel display with the Huawei logo at the bottom. At the back side, you can see glossy acrylic plastic with the dual camera seated at the upper left corner. There’s no fingerprint scanner which is quite a bummer for me, don’t worry though, as it has face recognition for faster screen unlock. On the left side is where you can find the SIM card tray which allows you to put 2 SIM card and 1 Micro SD card. On top is the 3.5mm audio jack as well as the noise canceling mic. On the right side is where the volume rocker and power button is located. At the bottom, you will see two speaker grills which deliver quite good quality audio. The micro USB port can be seen here as well.
The Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 with 3GB of RAM is perfect for your everyday social media and other light to moderate daily task. For gaming though, obviously, it is not that good. We’ve tested it and it had a hard time on games that are graphics heavy such as Vainglory, and Asphalt 9. Although you can still play but the graphics quality will suffer a lot. We’ve also tested Ragnarok on it, and we have to lower the graphics and the visible player count on screen.
Packed with 4,000mAh battery. The Y7 Pro managed to last for the whole day using only social media apps and a bit of web browsing on mobile data. We shall say the battery capacity is one of its selling factors and it’s actually impressive.
Equipped with 13MP rear AI camera, the Y7 Pro shoots decent photos in good lighting conditions and a decent one in room lighting. The front camera, on the other hand, is a 16MP camera shooter that shoots good selfies with a touch of software beautification.
Here are some of the shots taken using the Huawei Y7 Pro 2019
- Huge battery capacity that will last a day with you
- Decent camera
- Crisp and accurate display
- Face recognition reacts faster in low light condition compared to one of our high-end devices
- Not so sturdy design
- No fingerprint scanner
The Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 is already available at only Php 9,990.
