ASUS X570UD hands-on review!
The ASUS X570UD was launched around March 2018 and we finally got our hands on one!
The weight of the X570 is about 1.9kg and has a thickness of 21.9mm and the new product received an FHD (1920×1080) 60Hz Anti-Glare Panel in standard configuration and an IPS 4K UHD screen (3840 by 2160 pixels) by 15.6 inches (100% coverage of sRGB and 72% coverage of NTSC color space) to the maximum.
ASUS used solely plastic for the design of this device. While the body of this laptop seems sturdy enough, the lid is a little bendy and is prone to scratches as well as fingerprints.
However, it can be opened with only one hand. What we like about it is that ASUS came up with some fresh new colors and tried a teal and black combo for it which came up really fresh for the eyes.
Moving to the base of the X570, we see the same plastic material we found on the top, which imitates brushed aluminum. On the topmost, we see grills for some speakers
The X570 has a full-size keyboard with 1.4mm travel distance for tactile, comfortable keystrokes. In addition, it has a highlighted WASD key group and white-backlit keys and just below them we seem the same teal accent extending to the trackpad. On the unit that we got, you would see a fingerprint sensor but unfortunately, the ones that would come out in the Philippines wouldn’t have those. We don’t really recommend the keyboard for gaming as it feels too small and it felt like they were crammed to fit.
The X570 is complete in terms of ports. On the left side facing the laptop, you would see 2 USB 2.0 and the headphone jack. While on the right side, we have the MicroSD card reader, a USB 3.1 Gen1 Type C, HDMI port, USB 3.0, the RJ-45 LAN port and finally the power port. Here, we found a bit of a difficulty trying to remove the RJ-45 because of what ASUS had put in to hold the cable in place.
At the heart of the laptop was the i7-8550U processor (at the highest configuration), along with 16 gigabytes of DDR4-2400 memory, as well as the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card. The one that we got was equipped with a 512 SSD with 1TB Hard Drive but the ones released in the market has only 4GB RAM and 1TB HDD.
During battery life, the battery responds to 48 Wh. It would be calmly enough for 9 hours of work or watch online video in Full HD quality.

In terms of entertainment, we felt that the audio of the X570 was lacking but when it comes to games, we found it sufficient. We were able to play Dota 2 with High Settings and was able to achieve 120 FPS. While with PUBG, we were able to achieve satisfactory results with low-medium settings. Of course, given that this runs a GTX 1050, we don’t really see this running at optimum gaming capabilities all the time.
We also did a few video edits and this is where we found astonishing results. We ran Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere. We got to render 1080p at only 2-3 hours. The Intel Core i7 really helped with its 4 cores 8 threads.
Although, we were able to game and render for hours without heating issues considering the scorching heat in the country this time of year which is a big win in our books.
While ASUS has done well with adding a new design and color to their line up, we feel as though the price of the X570 was placed just right on the mark but would’ve really been a good buy if the prices were a bit lowered. Although, this device would be a really good option for business use or design and render, it would also be a great option for casual gaming.
