ASUSPRO B9440UA Review: Business Notebook Redefined
Business notebooks aren’t the same with consumer laptops, the specifications are usually one generation behind and somewhat outdated. The reason behind this is that the priority of the manufacturers with these kind of devices are its durability and security. In addition to that, the processor needs to be vPro certified.
We take a look at one of the latest of ASUS business laptops, the ASUSPRO B9440UA which is priced at P89,995.00. Too expensive? Check our review below and let us know if its worth every penny.
My first impression with this device is that it’s weight is incredibly light, it’s like the batteries are not yet installed within the chassis and I had to peek inside the box to check if its really separated. Total weight of the ASUSPRO B9440UA is only 1.08kgs which makes it an ideal portable notebook. The body is entirely made of uniibody magnesium shell and is MIL-STD 810G tested, looks durable and the surface doesn’t look like its prone to scratches. According to ASUS, it is the lightest 14-inch laptop today and we couldn’t agree more.
Upon lifting the lid is where things get a little interesting. The entire keyboard is lifted to 7-degree typing position which gave me a more comfortable feel while typing. The display reminds us of a Dell XPS13 because its very thin for a notebook. It has a Full HD (1920×1080) IPS panel which you can rotate up to 180-degrees as well.
There is a fingerprint scanner located at the top-right corner for log-in security, it takes less than a second to unlock your windows and it works accurately even in different angles. On the downside, the absence of a webcam is a major letdown. I’m not sure why ASUS did this, maybe for security purposes since hackers can access the webcam but nevertheless it is still an important part of your PC which should not be left out.
Another issue here is there are only two USB type-C ports available which means you have to use the dongle that goes along with the unit. You can only charge on the left side so better keep that dongle plugged-in on the right port all the time. Gladly they didn’t remove the 3.5mm audio jack on the left side.
Inside this portable notebook is an Intel Core i7-7600U processor to handle all your works seamlessly. The U type Intel CPU allows the unit to last 8 hours of moderate use in a single charge. Multitasking is not problem with its 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM plus the Windows 10 gestures on the touchpad. Lastly, it has 512GB of PCIE SSD which means the boot-up time and program executions are much faster.
Surprisingly its greatest feature is its speakers, the bass is full and not a single sign of cheap sound quality. Hey, it can even match against large-built multimedia laptops available in the market today.
Overall, its a decent business notebook, considering the build, display and speakers, If it wasn’t for the limited number of ports, the B9440UA can actually be an ideal 14-inch near borderless laptop.
