New Android O (OREO) Features and Supported Devices

After months of speculations and rumors, Google has finally unveiled its newest Android Name for its mobile OS, the Android Oreo. All Pixel and Nexus owners are the first one to receive its OTA (Over The Air) update and here are the things to expect:

1.) Picture In Picuture (PIP)

With the rise of TV streaming apps, binge-watchers are in for a treat because the (PIP) feature allows you to watch your favorite videos while accessing other application. Pretty much like the facebook video calling in which the screen shrinks and can be placed anywhere on the display area. This is perfect for Android tablets and for those who don’t want to miss out every game of thrones scenes while replying on their emails or texts.

2.) “Re-Architectured” Android Updates

Google has this “Project Treble” in which they partnered up with silicon manufacturers and device makers to be able to come up with a more efficient and lighter updates.

This might be the biggest improvement in Android Oreo as for every software updates, the chip makers can now implement their own silicon specific code before the device makers placed their own. The resulting package is now optimized for specific smartphone variant.

3.) New Emoji Designs

Texting and chats has never been more enjoyable. Aside from re-designed icons, Google has added 60+ fresh ones. Hopefully the “heart finger figure” is included for K-Drama fans out there

4.) Notification Dots

Android has added this feature in App shortcuts in which it enables you to preview any actions and notifications per app, It does share some similarities with iPhone’s 3D touch capability.

5.) Better Performance and Battery Efficiency

A lot bug fixes are implemented in the Android O which will result to better battery life. It will also enable the user to limit the apps running in the background to save more memory via App info.

6.) App Cache Memory Management

Every app’s cached data is now limited so the system can erase it when it reaches its allocated data limit.

7.) Google Play Protect
