Some of us think that smartphones tend to have an expensive price tag if they have top notch specs but you might want to check out this another “flagship killer” from Meizu, a Chinese smartphone company that is being distributed by Novo7Tech here in the Philippines. Read on below our quick review on this gorgeous 5-inch device!
At first look, it resembles the old iPhone 3G and the LG G3 combined because of its round edges and curved back that makes it comfortable when you hold it. The entire body is made of aluminum alloy and at the back is a smooth plastic plate to give you that premium look and feel. I do like the slim bezels on the screen for watching movies and playing games but it is still a question if the device has resolution issues due to its 1920×1140 instead of the usual 1920×1080. But nevertheless the pictures and videos are clear and crisp thanks to its FHD IPS panel that makes the colors balanced and well-contrasted.
Having no physical buttons on the bottom part is a huge plus because it makes the MX4 less prone to damages from overuse. As per the OS, the Meizu MX4 sports the Flyme OS that has no app drawer and just like iPhone, all the apps are present in the home screen upon unlocking. The icons are good but still needs some polishing although these things can be changed by future updates. Overall, I like the minimalist look and flat design of the Flyme OS.
Another thing that I liked about the Meizu flagship is the camera, it somewhat resembles the Nexus 6 in terms of where the lens is placed. It is equipped with 20.7 megapixel Sony sensor camera that is great for daylight photography and for slow-motion video capture. The animation capture of the MX4 is the same as the Xperia Z Series.
Performance-wise, it is packed with the latest MediaTek MT6595 processor with big.LITTLE architecture, 2.2GHz quad-core Cortex-A17 processor, 1.7GHz quad-core Cortex-A7 processor that made it one of the most powerful smartphones in terms of benchmark scoring. Upon testing it using AnTuTu, the score I got is around 50,000! Now you can just imagine the capabilities of the new chipset of the MX4.

Upon using this smartphone, this made me think how the Chinese phone makers squish the price-spec ratio because honestly I still can’t believe that they can make high quality smartphone in a very competitive price. We can give this a rate of 8 out of 10 because of the design, price, simplicity, specification and camera. You can get this at Novo7Tech Kiosks in Gateway Mall, Cubao for the price of only P14,999.00 for the 16GB and around 18k for the 32GB version.
